Good Deeds

'We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; In feelings, not in figures on a dial'

These lines from Festus (1839) written by Bailey convey a deep meaning for the people of modern world.. I would like to enlighten this proverb to a smaller extent..

You will often come across people saying, "100 saal jiyega tu".. I always take this blessing humorously.. First of all, I know from the circumstances that it's impossible for a person like me to live those many years of my life.. (Even if I do, it would be a mere coincidence :p)..

After a person's death you will hear people speak about his deeds, whether good or bad, but you will rarely notice anyone highlighting his age in preference to his deeds, except for the media sometimes.. This implies from great industrialist like Jamshedji Tata to social workers like Mother Teresa and from revolutionist like Nelson Mandela to a common human being like us..

At every stage of our life there's a reaction of our life in our surroundings.. Each and every person in our vicinity is influenced by our presence and our activities.. This, in fact, creates an impression or image of us as a person in their thoughts.. And hence in our absence, that image in the minds of people gets recreated to get their part of information about us.. Of course, everyone has an image of every person in his vicinity, depending on the priority of that person in his life.. After all, a human brain is capable to store almost 2.5 petabytes (or a million gigabytes) of memory.. So, unlike our harddisks being formatted, human brain can't do so and hence, the information get stored for lifelong..

So, even if a person dies at an early age, the brain redirects you to the images of that person you have and you realize the presence of that person in your feelings.. We can't predict the future.. Neither are we sure of ours and others' lives.. But we can surely be responsible for creation of our good images in minds of others..

So, continue doing good deeds.. Why should we delay in formation of our better afterlife...!!
